"I'd recommend Nottingham on Call to anyone. It's saved my life"
Dorothy is 87 and lives on her own in the Meadows area of Nottingham. A very proud Great Grandmother, she has a very close relationship with her family, who visit her often.
Although not in the best of health and finding mobility increasingly difficult, Dorothy is a strong believer in keeping as active as possible - regularly attending her local church and different lunch clubs across the city. And she loves to cook - which she says helps keep her mind active.
But Dorothy has also had the comfort of knowing that our Nottingham on Call service is there for her and, as Dorothy explains, she feels that it saved her life when she had a recent fall.
Dorothy said: "I had my Grandson over. He was downstairs and I was in my bedroom. I'm not sure what happened but, while in the bedroom, I had a fall and was unable to get up.
"I called out to my Grandson, who found me lying on the bedroom floor. He couldn't manage to move me, so I pressed my pendant that I wear round my neck.
"My Grandson was able to speak to the people at Nottingham on Call to let them know that I'd had a fall and he couldn't get me up. I was in a lot of pain. My leg was bleeding.
"Nottingham on Call called an ambulance and when they arrived, they were able to get in by using the Nottingham on Call key safe that I have next to my back door.
"I spent three months in hospital and while I was in they discovered I has cysts on my liver that they were able to treat.
"I don't know what I would have done without the Nottingham on Call service. I might not be here now.
"I recommend Nottingham on Call to anyone. It saved my life."
