Our pilot project to help people who fall in the home is going extremely well so far. We are running the Falls Lifting Pilot with Nottingham City Clinical Commissioning Group and the Urgent Care Board.
We aim to help customers who have had a fall in the home. If they aren’t injured, a trained member of our team will use specialised equipment to lift them as quickly and safely as possible.
Why did we set up the Falls Lifting pilot?
Before using this service, we would have to call an ambulance if a customer had fallen. This was the case, even if the customer felt they were not injured. The ambulance service does not give priority to calls about uninjured fallers. Sadly, this can mean customers will wait up to five hours for an ambulance to arrive. This delay can sometimes lead to further complications and is understandably distressing to the individual who has fallen.
We anticipate this is not a concern exclusive to Nottingham on Call. Does your organisation experience similar situations on a regular basis?
