Earth Day 2023

Earth ImageApril 22nd is once again Earth Day. Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970, every year the anniversary is about how we can change and apart our behaviours to better help the planet.

It's important to remember that small changes can make a big impact when it comes to protecting our planet. One such change is the switch to electric vehicles, and Nottingham On Call is leading the way with their fleet of electric vans.

Nottingham On Call is a community alarm service that provides support to elderly and vulnerable people in the Nottingham area. Their service operates 24/7, and they rely on a fleet of vehicles to respond quickly to emergencies. In 2018, they made the decision to switch to electric vans, and since then, they have seen a number of benefits.

First and foremost, electric vehicles are much better for the environment. They produce zero emissions, meaning they don't contribute to air pollution or climate change. By switching to electric vans, Nottingham On Call is helping to reduce their carbon footprint and do their part to protect the planet.

But the benefits don't stop there. Electric vehicles are also much quieter than traditional petrol-powered vehicles. This means that Nottingham On Call's vans don't disturb the peace and quiet of residential areas when they respond to emergencies in the middle of the night.

In addition, electric vehicles are cheaper to operate than traditional petrol-powered vehicles. They require less maintenance and have lower fuel costs, which means that Nottingham On Call can allocate more of their budget to providing vital support to their clients.

Nottingham On Call's switch to electric vans is just one example of how small changes can have a big impact on the environment. As individuals, we can also make a difference by choosing to walk, bike, or take public transportation instead of driving our own cars. We can also make a conscious effort to reduce our energy consumption and recycle whenever possible.

On this Earth Day, let's remember that every action we take, no matter how small, has the potential to make a difference. By working together and making small changes in our daily lives, we can create a healthier, more sustainable planet for future generations.
