Connection with reassurance

At Nottingham on Call, we’re committed to providing a reliable, future-proof service that gives our customers and their families complete peace of mind. That's why we are proud to be a fully digital service.

All of our care alarms, both home-based and mobile, are now digital, along with our call handling system. This means there’s no longer any reliance on the aging analogue telephone network that’s being switched off in January 2027.

Instead, our alarms just require a power socket to plug into and connect digitally.

Built for the future

Our digital care alarms use SIM cards to connect securely through mobile networks.

Every new alarm we install operates on 4G technology, removing dependence on the older 3G network, which is being retired, and reducing reliance on 2G services that will be withdrawn over time.

Stronger connections, greater reliability

One of the advantages of our digital alarms is the use of fully roaming SIM cards.

Unlike standard SIMs, which remain connected to a single network until the signal becomes very weak, fully roaming SIMs continually monitor available networks and connect to the strongest signal available.

This helps to make sure that when an alarm is activated, the connection is already operating on the best available network. As a result, emergency alerts can be transmitted quickly and reliably, helping to avoid delays when support is needed most.

Added resilience with dual SIM technology

For even greater reliability, our latest 4G home-based digital care alarms feature dual SIM technology. This means each alarm contains two SIM cards, providing an extra layer of resilience and peace of mind.

In practice, this means that if one mobile network connection becomes unavailable for any reason, the alarm can automatically use the second SIM to maintain communication with our monitoring centre.

This backup capability helps to make sure that emergency alerts can still be raised when they’re needed, providing the reassurance of dependable connectivity for clear communication with our call handlers to make sure you get the help you need.
