Carers Week 2026: supporting those who care every day
Published: Thursday, 4 June 2026
Carers Week is an annual campaign that recognises the incredible contribution made by unpaid carers across the UK.
This year it runs from 8 to 14 June. You can find out more about Carers Week on the Carers Worldwide website.
Whether you're caring for a partner, parent, friend, neighbour or family member, being a carer can be both rewarding and challenging. Many carers provide support around the clock, helping loved ones to remain independent, safe and connected to their communities.
At Nottingham on Call, we know that caring responsibilities don't stop at the end of the working day. That's why our services are designed to provide extra reassurance and peace of mind, both for the people we support and for those who care about them.
The importance of peace of mind
One of the biggest concerns for carers is what might happen when they're not there.
Whether you're at work, at the shops, taking some well-earned time for yourself or simply sleeping at night, it's natural to worry about a loved one's safety and wellbeing.
We can help reduce some of those worries by making sure that support is available whenever it’s needed.
How we can help
Our care alarms provide a direct connection to help 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
If a person needs help, they can simply press their pendant or alarm button to speak with one of our trained operators who can assess the situation and arrange appropriate support.
This means carers can have greater confidence that their loved one can access help, even when they’re not nearby.
Balancing caring responsibilities and wellbeing
Caring for someone else is important, but so is looking after yourself.
Many carers tell us that having a care alarm in place allows them to maintain a better balance between their caring responsibilities and their own wellbeing.
Knowing that someone has access to help can make it easier for a carer to attend appointments, go shopping, visit friends and family, continue working or just to take a break and recharge the batteries!
Other equipment to provide reassurance
As well as care alarms, we offer a range of other equipment that can provide extra support and reassurance depending on an individual's needs.
These include:
- Fall detectors
- Smoke detectors linked to our monitoring centre
- Carbon monoxide detectors
- Medication reminders
- Movement sensors
- Bed / chair sensors
Find out about these, and more, on our equipment page.
Thank you to all carers!
Carers Week is an opportunity to celebrate the dedication, compassion and commitment shown by carers every day.
We want to say a big thank you to everybody who is a carer. Your contribution is invaluable to families, communities and the wider health and social care system.
At Nottingham on Call, we’re proud to be able to play a role in supporting carers by providing services that help people live independently while offering reassurance to those who care for them.
